Season’s Greetings from Quasset
As the holiday season approaches, we would like to express our gratitude for your confidence throughout this past year. Building and maintaining relationships are essential to the success of Quasset and we would not be where we are today without your support.
2021 was our anniversary year, the year Quasset turned 10! A decade of innovation, architecting and realizing new approaches to technology, scaling solutions, building partnerships, and encouraging industry collaboration. To mark this occasion, we published Celebrating 10: Quasset Positive Impact report, reflecting on our journey over the past decade and taking stock of the present. Our global team is also highlighted in this report, so please take a moment to meet the people behind Quasset!
Our digital tooling solutions evolved at a rapid pace in 2021. We added a new asset class to AssetBuilder, our web-based digital twin solution, reaching another milestone on the AssetBuilder product roadmap. AssetBuilder Piping is based on ASME standards to help companies maintain piping system integrity and ensure quality and safety. Users can add pipe flanges, reducers within a piping network, and pumps and valves.
HoloGrid, our mixed reality application for NDT inspections, not only gained new capabilities in 2021, but was also utilized in different field trials. Field operators were very positive as was the data, showing a 75% reduction in cost per inspection and 70% reduction in inspection time. The HoloGrid 2.0 and 2.8 releases this year included straight piping sections, standard grid following ASME B31.3 pipe design specifications, and QR codes used as anchors for positioning, geometries and parameters.
COVID measures impacted the use of our test facilities in the Netherlands and the USA, but in the second half of 2021 activities revved up, providing major energy companies the opportunity to perform robot testing and the validation of robotic solutions for inspection and maintenance activities. Quasset Innovation Hub (USA) will be at full capacity in 2022, serving as a facility at the heart of digital transformation for critical infrastructure.
Quasset’s participation in PILOTING continued throughout 2021. This multi-year, European Horizon 2020 project focuses on the use of robotic technologies to increase efficiency and quality of inspection and maintenance of aging infrastructures. As part of the consortium, we developed I&M Intelligence and Visualization Portal, an advanced web-based platform for asset and inspection plan management. It is a comprehensive, asset-driven interface that optimizes inspection planning workflows and helps end users visualize and explore captured inspection data.
We took on a few challenges in 2021: not only the continuous challenge the pandemic poses, but also a few active ones that got us to lace up our running shoes and get outside! In the spring many employees joined the World Water Run, committing to run 305 km. This virtual race for people around the world was to drive awareness of the scarcity of water. Another team contribution was designing and developing the website for #DiversityChallengeNOW, in celebration of Dutch Diversity Day in the Netherlands. We teamed up with Rotary Club Hilversum International to bring attention to the importance of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), as well as supporting this cause by walking, running and biking in our own hometowns.
Our best wishes for a happy, bright and relaxing holiday season! We look forward to working with you in the years to come.
On behalf of the Quasset team,
Sincerely,
Tjibbe Bouma
